This hotel is very well located, near to Sichuan street and 5 minutes walking of Pudong views. It has a metro station 10 minutes away, so it is very easy to get around by metro. There is only high speed internet with wire, wifi doesn't work.
They don't have a regular hall (but it's ok) and if you stay in a room that leads to the street you will wake up with street noise. In Shanghai drivers blow the horn all the time.

The Rock Bund Hostel is excellent value for money - simple as that. The rooms are nice and clean, the staff are super friendly and always helpful with every request (even though they speak very little english) and the location 5-10 min from the Bund is excellent.

It was very cheap, but I felt safe and facilities were better than what I had anticipated! Because I chose to pay less and stayed there, I was able to buy a tailor-made suit for myself with the difference (if I had stayed at a 4*)!

Perfect location! Good value for money; very nice comfort of the family room.
It was a bit difficult how they did not accept card in the reception. It's a lot to pay the entire bill plus deposit in cash.

Well-located, it's a warm and friendly hostel. At the beginning of my staying in Shanghai I've spent two nights in a luxury hotel which wasn't warm enough. Then I couldn't leave for Guilin 'cause my train was in late, and I've found a hostel close to the place I've been at the moment. And I was more than satisfied.

It was very close to everything I wanted to see, 5 min to the Bund, 10 to Nanjing road, everything was just around the corner. And it was extremely cheap for the location, great low budget place.
Although the rooms were fine, the hallway and reception were dirty and did not give a very good impression. When I first walked in I thought I had made a very bad decision for our stay, but the rooms turned out to be fine. Also, there were always cleaning material, mops, brooms, trash bins, dirty laundry holders in the hallway blacking our passage.

The location is great, it's very close to the Bund. But much cheaper than the neighbour hotel "The Peninsula"! ;-)
Can be noisy during weekends due to other travellers.

The location is really good.very close to the bund
The room had a terrible smell.we kept the window opened for the whole stay but it was imposible to get ride of it. Internet didnt work very well.the signal was very poor all the time. The staff asked us to change the room because of a misunderstanding with the reservation. Finally they solved it and we kept the first room.

Spacious rooms, very clean, great location, staff was very helpful for getting a taxi to the airport, early in the morning.
We couldn't pay with the credit card even though there was a sign on the door.

Clean and simple place. I stayed here in a single room over a weekend on my solo trip to Shanghai. The staff was also nice. Location is the best part. It's very close to The Bund, Subway station, Nanjing street etc.
No dislikes during my stay.

I lived in many different hotels in Shanghai before and I have never seen a better one in this price range. The room was very clean and the service was nice. The receptionist spoke some Engish. The hostel is located in the very center of Shanghai which is a great advantage. However, be prepared to give 200 yuans of deposit and not the standard 100 yuans.
